September Updates

It’s another infusion week so with that comes a few updates and specific prayers for Ben and our family.

Two weeks ago, heading into his last infusion, Ben was pretty uncomfortable and having difficulty breathing which resulted in a few additional scans. Those scans showed that the cancer in his upper right lung is pressing into his trachea resulting in his difficulty breathing. Surprisingly, since then, his breathing has gotten better without any additional intervention. We met with the radiologist and there is an option to do 5 treatments of radiation in that area, if it's needed in the future. Please pray that this intervention will not be needed.

After meeting with the surgeon and oncologist, we believe that he will be able to get his abdominal pump out! Since it is not being used any more, we are trying to get the removal of the pump scheduled. This sounds like it would be a minor procedure and would allow a little more comfort as the pump is more cumbersome than we anticipated.

Lastly, due to some additional information with the most recents biopsy of the new cancer growth, there has been a change in medication he is receiving during his infusion. He will be on a very similar regimen as last summer/fall, which he responded really well to and didn’t have a ton of additional side effects.

Please continue to pray that the treatment that he is getting does continue to slow the growth of the cancer.

Y’all have continued to show up in very kind and generous ways and it is extremely humbling and we are so grateful. One of the kindest gestures recently was a lot of my girlfriends chipping in for these new beautiful family photos. These pictures will be cherished forever.

For all of you that are boldly praying with us, I leave you with an excerpt of “Treasures in the Dark” by Katherine Wolf:

“Asking for a miracle is like peeling back a bandage to expose the wound that needs healing. Not one of us wants to feel vulnerable or to risk the powerlessness of not getting the outcome we desire. Faith is a risk. Praying for a miracle feels like a high-stakes gamble. I’m inviting you to join me in the risk of faith because, to me, it becomes less about getting what I want and more about depending on Jesus. Asking Jesus to heal you is just a different way of telling Jesus, “I trust You.” Praying for a miracle is not an empty gesture. It's a brave declaration of confidence in a loving God.”

Amen 🙏🏻
