New Year Updates

Hello! Quick update from the last two weeks since radiation and chemo started. Ben has little to no additional side effects but the daily commute is a lot for someone still recovering from a major surgery.

The setback we have experienced is that his incision from his surgery has not been healing properly. It's a large incision to begin with (covers about 10in. of his abdomen) and over the last week I noticed when bandaging it that it did not appear to be healing properly. To save those with weak stomachs, the surgery team was able to see him and determined that it was not infected but they believe one of the chemo drugs he was on is slowing the healing process. Unfortunately this is now going to require a lot more time for his abdomen to heal than expected, and his pain level has been very high the past week. This is hard news for anyone, but particularly hard for Ben who is already anxiously awaiting being able to move his body again.

Please pray specifically for his incision to heal and that we are able to manage his pain at home. Additionally, please pray that the side effects from radiation and chemo stay minimal. 7 treatments down 16 to go!

I’ve been praying Matthew 11:28-30 over myself this week as I am weary. Please pray this over me, and for those of you who may need it today.

“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
