Next chapter starts today
Dec 26, 2023
I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and were able to experience incredible joy the last few days. Even though Ben is still recovering from his surgery (now 2 weeks ago), we were able to get out of the house to create fun Christmas memories together. We are still working to manage his pain daily but he is resting a lot and getting out for daily recovery walks.
Today starts the next chapter in this journey. He will be completing 5 weeks of radiation (targeted at the colo-rectal region), in addition to oral chemotherapy and chemotherapy administered in the pump that was installed in his abdomen. This pump will target the liver directly, something that should reduce overall symptoms of chemo. Radiation takes place everyday (Monday-Friday) for five weeks, so Ben will be commuting to the hospital daily for the treatments.
Please pray for the following in this next season:
That Ben continues to heal from his surgery.
That the radiation targets all remaining cancer cells that could potentially be where the primary tumor was. It goes against conventional treatment to not operate on the location of the primary tumor once the cancer metastasizes, but as of right now, we pray that the radiation removes ANY trace and that surgery in this area could be avoided. This would be a miracle!
That the symptoms of radiation and all new chemo would remain minimal over the next 5 weeks.
That Ben and I continue to have a spirit of perseverance during this next season
Words will never be able to express the immense gratitude we have for all the prayers you have prayed over our family and all the tangible ways you all have supported us these last 7 months.
