March Updates & Scans

March 20, 2024

The last few weeks have been full of very normal things and it was such a welcomed change. I explained to someone that it felt like we were at an oasis in the desert. We know there is still a lot of journey ahead but it felt like a break, a reprieve, a chance to catch our breath for a few weeks.

One of the things that is really important to both Ben and me is the ability to exercise and in the past few years we have done that at our local Crossfit affiliates (Ben at Crossfit Combustion in Tennessee and both of us at Rayzor Ranch Crossfit here in Texas). Without explaining all the details of the Crossfit Open, it is something that Ben has loved participating in that is still really important to him. He was able to participate in two of the events at our gym in a modified version and it was one of the prouder moments I’ve had being his wife. He continues to show up and do really hard things when he has every excuse not to and we are really proud of him.

Ben had a full chemo infusion on March 5 (Round 12 for those counting - last one was Oct 31). His blood work that came back that day was very encouraging. Remember, the CEA number we were tracking over the summer? It is the lowest it’s ever been! It was 4.9 and a “normal” range is 4.7 or below. We pray this is a sign of a mighty miracle taking place in his body.

He was able to go on a work trip (yay for something normal!) to San Antonio and then we all met up in Florida for a spring break trip with my parents. It was a sweet to have that time together ☀️

He went in for another infusion yesterday but only had 2 of the chemo drugs so the symptoms are almost non-existent. On Friday, he is going for all of his scans and these scans are going to determine all the next steps.

Would you please pray that the colon is clear?

Would you please pray that the tumor in the liver has decreased significantly?

Would you please pray for unity among the team of doctors and us as we need wisdom for what's next?

Over the next few weeks we will have appointments with all the different doctors, so we will update you all when we have a clearer picture of what's next.

The verse I read this morning and will continue to pray over our family these next few days and weeks; “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
