Valentine’s Day
Feb 15, 2024
Yesterday, once Ben got up and moving he noticed some swelling in the area that was the entry point for his procedure on Tuesday. We were given very clear discharge instructions about how the area should look and precautions to take in the event of bleeding or swelling, due to the access of a major artery. The swelling continued and happened very quickly, resulting in me getting him to the local ER around 6:30 yesterday morning. Once he was assessed by the team there, we knew it was less urgent but that he would need to be seen by the team that worked with him the day before. He was then transported to UT Southwestern’s ER and was there until about 4:00. They ran an ultrasound and determined that it was a hematoma, the 1/1000 chance of that happening after the procedure.
I was able to get to the boys Valentine’s parties, where Nate was able to share poetry he has been working on and the fourth graders made friendship bracelets.
All is well today, Ben just has to be cautious with his movements, which thankfully he already does due to his incision 😉
It feels like it has been one thing after another lately and we are ready for a break. Would you pray that we won’t have any more setbacks?
His energy and appetite are getting better each day. We make sure to tell each other all the little wins, and I encourage you that when you are having a bad day to find the smallest win to celebrate.
